saturday market (41): i/object

Every Saturday a fun web shop. This week: I/OBJECT.

After being close friends for twenty years Veva & Vanessa felt like starting out on their very own, big, shared, project. As they share an interest in beautiful objects, that project turned out to be I/OBJECT.

You call I/OBJECT a concept store. What is the concept?

“We call our shop a concept store because we deliver a mix of very different products and that’s why it’s an experience to shop with us. We sell stuff varying from accessories, interior decoration, books, gadgets and all kinds of wannahaves for him, for her and for the kids. Aside from that we blog about all kinds of stuff we love on our I/BLOG. Our concept will expand later this year with an I/O-lunch room and an I/O-B&B in Gent. That will give us room to embark on special projects with designers.”

What is your latest big find?

“We are very excited about the designer CFL called PLUMEN, by Swiss artist Ursus Wehrli and our future lunch room!”

Which blogs inspire you?

“We follow several blogs on design and such. Dezeen, Notcot, Swissmiss, and Yatzer are all very good.”

What have you learned about running a web shop?

“That the way you present your present your product online and the way you communicate about it is very important.

And that you need to busy yourself with a lot of stuff at the same time: content, prospects, administration, handling, customer support, marketing…. It’s pretty full on but all of it is fun!”
